Tissue Production Assistant Superintendent

Position: Tissue Production Assistant Superintendent
Type: Full-time
Salary range: To be determined
Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper
Experience: 3-6 years of Production Engineering and/or supervision experience in a pulp/paper mill.  Tissue experience preferred but not mandatory.  Must be capable of assuming superintendent position in approximately 12 months.

Job Description:
This position will be responsible for providing technical, production and supervisory assistance to the Tissue Superintendent.  Specifically this will include machine/process troubleshooting, process and operating optimization, employee training, product quality improvements, assist in new product development and technical service to customers and sales.  Candidate will be groomed to promote to superintendent.

Major Job Related Duties:

  • Identify employee training needs, develop training plans and conduct training classes for machine crews.
  • Troubleshoot machine, process and product quality issues.  Recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in machine trials.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction potential related to machine operations.  Analyze, recommend and implement as justified.
  • Identify capital projects with significant ROI potential.  Prepare formal project requests including expected payback and benefits.
  • Complete both long and short term improvement machine and process improvement projects both self initiated and as assigned.
  • Make service calls as required to major customers to identify potential or existing problems with our products or service and to offer our customers technical assistance with our products as needed. 
  • Identify potential areas of improvement in machine processes as they relate to customer needs or complaints and recommend corrective actions.
