Pulp Production Engineer / Assistant Superintendent
Position: Pulp Production Engineer / Asst Superintendent
Type: Full-time

Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of process or production engineering experience in pulp / paper mill and Kraft puping, bleaching and/or recovery, utilities experience is a plus.
Job Description:
This position will be responsible for providing technical and supervisory assistance to the Pulp Mill. Specifically this will include equipment/process troubleshooting; process optimization; employee training; production and quality improvements; shutdown planning and implementation.
Major Job Related Duties:
- Train and be able to function as shift supervisor as needed.
- Identify employee training needs, develop training plans and conduct training classes and crew meetings.
- Troubleshoot equipment, process and product quality issues. Recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate trials.
- Identify areas for cost reduction potential. Analyze, recommend and implement as justified.
- Identify capital projects with significant ROI potential. Prepare formal project requests including expected payback and benefits.
- Complete both long and short-term improvement projects both self initiated and as assigned.
- Maintain regular contact with Department customers, investigate, report and follow-up on Pulp quality issues.
- Identify potential areas of improvement in Pulp Mill processes and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of operating and product specifications and S.O.P.’s.
- Provide summarization and statistical analysis of operating and quality data.
- Provide on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
- Assist with shutdown planning and implementation
Required Skills:
Successful candidate must have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper. A minimum of 2 years of process or production engineering experience in a pulp/paper mill and Kraft pulping, bleaching and/or recovery, utilities experience is a plus.
